FC Barcelona has announced that Andreas Christensen will stay with the club for two more seasons, extending his contract until June 30, 2028. The Danish defender, whose deal was set to expire in 2026, will enter his fifth year with Barça, and a public signing ceremony will take place soon at the club’s offices.
Now 30, Christensen arrived from Chelsea on a free transfer in the summer of 2022 and has become a key part of the defense thanks to his tactical intelligence and reliability. In his four seasons with Barça, he has made 98 official appearances across all competitions and contributed to a trophy-laden run that includes three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and three Spanish Super Cups.
His most recent year, however, was interrupted by a serious knee injury—a partial tear of the ACL—that sidelined him for 158 days before he returned to action in the final league matchday at Mestalla.
With this renewal, Barça secures the continuity of a proven high-level center-back. Christensen’s ability to distribute from the back and his versatility will keep him as a fundamental pillar of the club’s sporting project going forward.
