Emma Raducanu, the former US Open champion and British No. 1, entered Wimbledon as the 30th seed at age 23, with a world ranking of 32. Ahead of the tournament, optimism gave way to concerns after reports she had missed training sessions and was wearing a protective boot. On the eve of the event, despite initial indications she planned to play, Raducanu withdrew after a final scan revealed a stress fracture in the niggle she had been managing, and medical advice to stop pushing through. She did not compete in the first round.
In the same draw, Katie Boulter, 29 and ranked 59, was bouncing back from a difficult 2025 season. She reached the Queen’s semi-finals and scored a standout win over world No. 2 Elena Rybakina, demonstrating potential on grass when her aggressive style is clicking; however, she has yet to advance beyond the third round of a Grand Slam. She exited in the first round, losing to Tyra Grant 6-4, 6-2.
Fran Jones, 25 and ranked 103, had a landmark first-round victory at the French Open, marking her first Grand Slam win. Ahead of her fourth Wimbledon, the Yorkshire-born player who grew up in Barcelona prefers not to be defined by her disability—Ectrodactyly Ectodermal Dysplasia-Clefting, which leaves her with three fingers and a thumb on each hand and seven toes overall. Doctors had told her she might never play tennis, yet her dedication and work ethic have seen her rise as she aims to re-enter the world’s top 100 after a challenging year that included a first-round Australian Open retirement and a gym accident.
Harriet Dart, 29 and ranked 151, will be making her eighth Wimbledon main-draw appearance and came into the tournament with recent momentum. She played a crucial role for Britain in April when Raducanu and Boulter were unavailable, leading the team to a Billie Jean King Cup finals qualification with wins in singles and doubles. Dart claimed her first tour-level doubles title last week at the Nottingham Open, partnering Maia Lumsden. She lost in the first round at Wimbledon to Jelena Ostapenko, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
Alicia Dudeney, wildcard and 23 years old, ranked 246, will be making her Wimbledon debut. Her rapid rise in the rankings over the past year has propelled her into the spotlight as she prepares for her first appearance at the Championships.
