CHENEY, Kan. (KSNW) — The Cardinals are looking to reload behind a big, physical offensive line that’s become a key part of their identity this year, but they will not have the same man under center.Former quarterback Reece Tolar graduated last summer and will play linebacker for Division II Missouri Southern, but head coach Shelby Wehrman is impressed so far with the play of his new quarterbacks.”We’re trying to figure out who is going to step in. Holden Ferralez has looked pretty good, Carson Swartz has been pretty impressive, and he’s just a young sophomore. I’m very happy with the progress I’ve seen so far,” Wehrman said.
2026 high school football previews: Garden Plain Owls Players on both sides of the ball can’t wait to get the season going. “We’ve been really working on our speed. We have a very fast offensive group, and so, you know, speed can really help us out. And we’re also really big. And that will, that would really benefit us with other teams,” said senior lineman Ayden Koehn.”It’s been awesome. We’ve been building a lot of discipline, especially with the weight room and staying in there and staying focused even when times weren’t great,” said kicker Carstyn Flores. Cheney will open its season on Friday, Sept. 4, hosting rival Garden Plain with kickoff set for 7 p.m.For more Kansas news, click here.
