This Derby adds extra significance for Rice, who was recently named to his first All-Star team and has chosen to participate in his inaugural Home Run Derby. With Aaron Judge sidelined, Rice has emerged as the Yankees’ leading power contributor this season. Although his recent stretch has cooled, the 27-year-old still leads New York in both home runs and RBIs. In a heartwarming twist, Rice announced on Instagram that his father, Dan, will be tossing to him during the event.
Caminero is back to avenge last year’s final-round defeat to Cal Raleigh. The 22-year-old became the first confirmed participant after announcing the news on his Instagram account. After slugging 45 homers in 2025, Caminero continues to establish himself as one of the game’s elite power hitters. He recently became the youngest player since 1900 to hit a homer in six straight games. Caminero’s production has been a major factor in the Rays owning the best record in the American League.
Caglianone may not be an All-Star, but he’s headed to Philadelphia for his first Home Run Derby. The 23-year-old struggled as a rookie last season, yet he’s shown significant improvement this year, including nine homers and a 1.036 OPS in June. He possesses a quick left-handed bat (97th percentile in bat speed) and hits the ball with exceptional authority, ranking in the 92nd percentile or higher in barrel percentage, average exit velocity, and hard-hit percentage. He’s also among the leaders in average home run distance. Expect an entertaining display of power in Philly.
Contreras will take part in his first Home Run Derby at 34. He’s enjoyed a strong first half with the Red Sox, reaching 20 homers for the seventh time in his career and looking to surpass his career-high of 24 from 2019. His power has been notably impressive, tied for second in the majors in average home run distance. With Vladimir Guerrero Jr. withdrawing due to a back injury, Contreras was named to the All-Star team. He will aim to become the first Red Sox player to win the Derby since David Ortiz in 2010.
Walker has emerged as one of the season’s best stories, finally delivering on his vast potential. The 24-year-old former top prospect has already set a new career high in home runs, while his overall quality of contact has improved significantly. His elite bat speed, listed at 79.1 mph, ranks just behind Junior Caminero among Derby participants. Walker’s ascent has him firmly in the spotlight as one of the year’s standout power hitters, and his presence adds even more excitement to this year’s Derby lineup.
This year’s Home Run Derby promises a thrilling display of power, with a diverse group of sluggers eager to claim the crown in Philadelphia. As more participants are confirmed, fans can look forward to updates and additional fuel for what’s shaping up to be an unforgettable night of long balls and showmanship.
