4-star Kennedy Green commits to Mississippi State football again in 2027 class

STARKVILLE — Kennedy Green, a four-star safety from Douglasville, Georgia, has recommitted to Mississippi State football, announcing his decision on July 11. The talented prospect chose the Bulldogs over a host of offers from programs such as South Carolina, North Carolina, Nebraska, and Auburn, among others. Green first pledged to MSU in November 2024 but decommitted in June 2025 before deciding to return to the Bulldogs.
Rankings reflect Green as the No. 373 prospect in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite. He is also rated as the No. 32 safety and the No. 40 player in Georgia. Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 195 pounds, Green anchors Mississippi State’s 2027 recruiting class as its fourth four-star recruit, joining running backs Yoshawn Hudson and Christian Alexander and defensive lineman Jaden Bayonne. This quartet helps form a deeper, more dynamic backbone for the Bulldogs as they continue to build toward future success.
Mississippi State’s 2027 class, before Green’s re-commitment, carried a national ranking of No. 52 and sat at the bottom of the SEC in terms of conference standing. Green’s return adds a high-caliber element to a group that already includes several notable talents. During his high school career, Green compiled 56 tackles last season and added two interceptions, showcasing the playmaking ability that MSU believes can translate to the college level.
In addition to Green, the Bulldogs have three other safeties in the class who are currently ranked as three-stars: Trae’kerrion Collins, Hudson Fuqua, and Ke’Vontae Pitts. The presence of Green alongside these players strengthens Mississippi State’s defensive backfield depth as the program continues to recruit aggressively for the 2027 cycle.
Mississippi State’s coaching staff and recruiting coordinators have emphasized the importance of developing a robust, versatile secondary, and Green’s skill set fits that vision. His length, range, and ball skills give MSU options in multiple defensive schemes, from traditional two-deep shells to more hybrid, man-press looks. As he continues to develop physically and sharpen his technique, Green has the potential to be a cornerstone for the Bulldogs’ defense in the coming years.
