The San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday reached an injury settlement with recently-waived defensive end KJ Henry according to the NFL’s transaction wire. Henry suffered an injury in training camp and was waived by the 49ers on Aug. 12 with an injury designation. When a player with an injury designation isn’t claimed, they revert to IR with the team that waived them. They’ll remain on IR unless they reach an injury settlement with the team. That settlement is what the 49ers and Henry reached to grant him his free agency. The 49ers signed the 27-year-old former Washington Commanders fifth-round pick in early August while they dealt with a rash of injuries at defensive end. Henry was let go the day before the 49ers’ first preseason game vs. the Tennessee Titans. In three NFL seasons Henry has played in 15 games with three starts. He has 22 tackles and 2.5 sacks with two pass breakups.
