Between the Seattle Seahawks winning Super Bowl LX, the Los Angeles Rams pulling off a blockbuster trade for Myles Garrett and the Arizona Cardinals selection of Jeremiah Love with the No. 3 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft — the San Francisco 49ers’ offseason didn’t quite get the attention it deserved. And when the Niners have found themselves in the spotlight … it’s been because of Brandon Aiyuk’s ongoing social media antics as the disgruntled wide receiver tries to force his way out of the Bay Area.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWhile it’s completely understandable why Aiyuk has demanded the headlines, some of the wide-receiver focus should be reserved for the Niners’ newest difference-maker: future Pro Football Hall of Famer Mike Evans. Not only is Evans a Super Bowl champion, but he also tied San Francisco legend Jerry Rice’s record for consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons after posting his 11th straight in 2024.Evans struggled with a hamstring strain early in 2025 before breaking his collarbone, resulting in the end of his ongoing streak.Speaking with NBC Sports Bay Area, Rice admitted he was disappointed to see Evans’ streak come to an end due to injury.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement”I got to meet him in a commercial, then I would follow him because I think we both had seasons where we had over 1,000 yards for 11 of 13 times, or something like that,” Rice said. “It was just unfortunate that he got hurt because he had a good chance of breaking my record. And if anybody was going to break my record, I would have loved him to do it.”But the undisputed greatest receiver in league history wasn’t the only one to shower Kyle Shanahan’s newest weapon with praise.Another one of the best to ever do it, Larry Fitzgerald, detailed why he believes San Francisco’s offense could terrify opposing defenses in 2026.”I think he’s the most underrated receiver of this generation. You’d be hard pressed to find anybody who has been more consistently productive than he has. He’s a Super Bowl champion,” Fitzgerald said, per Vic Tafur of The Athletic. “Now you team him with Kyle Shanahan, one of the greatest offensive minds we have in our game, and that’s pretty scary.”… Rice sees a record-breaker…. Fitzgerald sees the most underrated receiver of his generation. The NFC West and the rest of the NFL may soon be reminded why both Hall of Famers feel that way.
