The Philadelphia 76ers have been busy this offseason. From making a blockbuster trade for All-NBA wing Jaylen Brown to signing Dean Wade, Anfernee Simons, and others, Mike Gansey and company have done an excellent job at overhauling the roster before next season.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe Athletic firmly agrees the front office has done phenomenal work, giving the 76ers an A+ grade for their offseason moves.”The Sixers have a real chance to be a top-four team in the Eastern Conference. That could not be said of them heading into the offseason,” The Athletic’s Tony Jones wrote.Let’s analyze each of Philadelphia’s major moves and see if the consensus is an A+ grade:Acquiring Brown: The 76ers sent veteran Paul George and a handful of picks to the Boston Celtics for Brown. Not only is Brown roughly seven years younger than George, but he is widely viewed as the superior player. The five-time All-Star averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists on 47.7% shooting in 71 games for the Celtics last season.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementSigning Wade: Wade was in part brought to Philadelphia due to his ties with Gansey, but his skill set completely justifies the decision. He is a lockdown defender and is capable of spacing the floor at a high level. Unless the Sixers sign LeBron James, the expectation is Wade will start at power forward.Signing Simons: For two years, $12.3 million, Simons is a steal. He is an offensive sparkplug who will help bolster the second unit. The idea is for him to replace Quentin Grimes, except he doesn’t offer the same level of play on the defensive floor. However, he’s arguably an upgrade from Grimes on offense.Signing Ariel Hukporti: This is the most puzzling of all Gansey’s decisions. Hukporti is largely an unproven center who, alongside Adem Bona, will back up Joel Embiid. This is arguably the most worrying part of the rotation as it currently stands because neither Bona nor Hukporti is capable of starting on a regular basis if Embiid is sidelined.Drafting Labaron Philon Jr.: This was a no-brainer after he slipped down the board in the 2026 NBA Draft. The former Alabama Crimson Tide guard averaged 22 points in his sophomore collegiate season. His scoring and ball-handling are incredibly intriguing, and the hope is undoubtedly he’ll fill the void left by Jared McCain.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement76ersRoundtable Grade: AJoin The 76ersRoundtableHead over to the 76ersRoundtable page and hit the “Join” button at the top of the page… it’s completely FREE!
