Álex Baena scored for Spain 42 minutes into their critical Group H match against Uruguay in the 2026 World Cup.
Baena’s strike bounced toward Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, who could not get to it in time as it went into the corner of the net. Spain is up 1-0 and needs this win to automatically advance to the round of 32.
Spain is at the top of the Group H standings with four points after a 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia and a shocking scoreless draw against Cape Verde to open the tournament.
La Roja won the 2010 World Cup and, more recently, the 2024 European championship.
