After looking for a trade with the 14th overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, the Blue Jackets instead hung onto it to select Oscar Hemming of Boston College.
Hemming, a power forward who stands 6 feet 4, 198 pounds, is a winger from Vaasa, Finland with size, speed and skill. He split last season playing between Kiekko-Espoo’s U20 and U18 teams in Finland’s SM-Sarja league before joining Boston College for 17 games.

Hemming finished his first collegiate season with one goal, seven assists and eight goals for the Eagles after putting up 35 goals, 28 assists and 63 points in 31 games for his Finnish junior team (U20).
