Austin Hill continues to make a strong impression behind the wheel of the No. 33 for Richard Childress Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series. He qualified 12th for the Cup race at Sonoma Raceway on Saturday, following a solid Friday and Saturday in San Diego. Although Stage 2 in San Diego ended badly for Hill with a wreck that sidelined Shane van Gisbergen and Connor Zilisch, he has steadily progressed in the Cup Series since taking over the rebranded No. 33 from the late Kyle Busch. Hill will start 12th at Sonoma, and a top-10 finish is within reach if he can avoid mistakes and maintain speed. Notably, he outqualified his teammate Austin Dillon by nearly 20 spots for Sunday’s race. This article originally appeared on Motorsports Wire.
