NHL insider Frank Seravalli unveiled his latest trade board for Hockey 24/7, and three Pittsburgh Penguins players earned spots on the list. Tommy Novak, Rickard Rakell, and Bryan Rust all cracked Seravalli’s rankings. Novak was slotted at No. 23. The 29-year-old forward is entering the final year of his contract in 2026-27 and will become a pending UFA, making him a plausible trade candidate for Pittsburgh if the team doesn’t view him as a long-term piece. Novak is a solid top-nine contributor, evidenced by his 16 goals and 42 points in 82 games last season.
Rakell sits at No. 24 on the board, a placement that reflects ongoing trade chatter surrounding him. With this year’s free-agent class not particularly strong, the Penguins could command a substantial return for a top-six forward like Rakell. In 60 games with Pittsburgh last season, he posted 24 goals and 48 points.
Lastly, Bryan Rust is No. 37 on Seravalli’s list. Like Rakell, Rust has been a frequent subject of trade speculation. Moving Rust would be significant for Pittsburgh, as he has spent his entire 12-year career with the Penguins, but it could be worth it if a strong offer comes in. Rust produced 29 goals and 65 points over 72 games last season.
