Julius Walker found himself on the wrong side of history at UFC Fight Night 280, a result that is hard to swallow. Before the bout, he had claimed that an ideal scenario would be a one-punch knockout, but the plan backfired as Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev landed the opening strike and knocked him out in eight seconds—the light heavyweight clash at National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, Azerbaijan. The moment tied for the seventh-fastest knockout in UFC history and was the second-quickest finish in the division’s history. While Yakhyaev earned the praise for the spectacular finish, Walker is left to grapple with the sting of defeat. He spoke about the painful outcome, which came after eight weeks of training away from his family, and expressed his intention to move forward.
