Texas A&M football is continuing to shape a promising 2027 recruiting class under Mike Elko. With standout additions already on offense, including top wide receiver Jaden Upsaw and quarterback Jayce Johnson, the Aggies landed another high-profile commitment on Sunday, June 28: Eric McFarland III, a top-25 recruit in the 2027 cycle.
According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, McFarland sits at No. 25 overall in 2027, is the fifth-ranked wide receiver, and stands as the fourth-best player from Florida. He chose the Aggies over offers from programs such as Georgia, Ohio State, and USC. McFarland reclassified from the 2028 cycle to 2027 in December 2025, positioning himself to impact the program sooner.
physically, McFarland is listed at 5-foot-8 and 177 pounds. As a sophomore in 2025, he logged 29 receptions for 595 yards and 11 touchdowns across nine games, and he also contributed a touchdown pass as he helped IMG Academy go 9-0 against a national schedule. In 2024, his freshman season, he posted 36 catches for 574 yards and eight touchdowns, including an 80-yard touchdown pass.
McFarland earned Offensive MVP honors at the 2026 Polynesian Bowl after a four-catch, 66-yard performance that also featured a 35-yard rushing attempt and a touchdown. This commitment adds to a growing Aggies receiving corps and reflects Elko’s ongoing effort to recruit dynamic playmakers for the 2027 class.
