The 2026 Travelers Championship will stretch into Monday morning after Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland forced a playoff in Connecticut. Scheffler connected on a clutch 9-foot par save at the 18th to finish 72 holes at 21-under, forcing a sudden-death playoff with Hovland. The playoff is set to begin at 9 a.m. ET, starting again on the par-4 18th and continuing as needed. The dramatic action occurred after a weather delay: play was halted at 5:57 p.m. due to lightning and resumed at 7:20 p.m., with Scheffler and Hovland just through 13 holes. Scheffler held a two-shot lead over Hovland when darkness fell, though Hovland birdied the 14th and 15th to pull within striking distance. Both players had birdie opportunities on the 18th hole to win outright; Hovland converted his attempt but Scheffler missed his, leaving the hole to decide the winner in the playoff. This marks Scheffler’s second Travelers playoff appearance, following his 2024 playoff victory over Tom Kim. Scheffler carries a 2-2 playoff record overall, including a win at the 2022 WM Phoenix Open, while Hovland is 1-0 in PGA Tour playoffs, with a win over Denny McCarthy at the 2023 Memorial Tournament. The final round and playoff will be broadcast across Peacock, NBC Sports Network, and Golf Channel.
