Liverpool target Yan Diomandé is close to moving to PSG from RB Leipzig, according to L’Equipe. The 19-year-old Ivory Coast winger has reportedly leapfrogged Liverpool in the race to sign him as PSG seek to bolster their squad after back-to-back Champions League triumphs. The Athletic had earlier stated that Diomandé told PSG he wanted to join them this summer, which is expected to trigger formal negotiations between PSG and RB Leipzig. A five-year contract is being worked out, though Diomandé is likely to earn less at PSG than at Liverpool, and his transfer fee is anticipated to be lower than the €100m-plus bids Liverpool lodged with Leipzig. PSG reportedly has leverage in talks thanks to Nasser Al-Khelaïfi’s strong ties with RB Leipzig chief Oliver Mintzlaff, who sits on the European Club Association board chaired by the PSG president, and broader cooperation between PSG and Red Bull. PSG aims to move quickly to secure Diomandé once his World Cup break ends.
