Arsenal’s head of sports science performance, Tom Allen, is set to depart the club, becoming the latest member of the backroom staff to leave. Since joining in 2017 from Aston Villa, Allen has overseen first-team performance across sports science, physical output, nutrition, and performance support. He follows chief medical officer Dr Zaf Iqbal and lead performance coach Sam Wilson out of the club, leaving just weeks after Arsenal secured their first Premier League title in 22 years. Despite the title, the team faced significant injury problems last season, with several key players sidelined for extended periods. The departures come amid a wider revamp guided by external medical expert Joaquin Acedo, who has a longstanding relationship with manager Mikel Arteta dating back to their time together at Everton. People close to the changes say Acedo’s input has been pivotal this summer. Among those leaving is performance coach Wilson. Arsenal continue to push through updates as part of this restructuring.
