Tony Cascarino says Arsenal’s target is much better than current options

Tony Cascarino believes Morgan Rogers would be an upgrade on Arsenal’s current left-sided options as links to the Aston Villa forward intensify this summer. Arsenal are keeping tabs on Rogers after his impressive showing in a successful Europa League campaign, while Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli remain the club’s primary choices on the left. The Gunners are exploring attacking targets to boost depth and consistency, with reports linking Yan Diomande and Bradley Barcola as they assess options ahead of the transfer window deadline.
Cascarino argues Rogers would suit Arsenal’s left side well, though he sees him more as a wide attacking midfielder than a traditional winger. He believes Rogers’ pace, goal threat, and physical presence would add a different dimension to Arsenal’s attack and overall balance. Speaking on Talksport, he said Rogers is best on the left but not as a conventional winger, a role Arsenal could accommodate, allowing Martinelli to come in as a starter or substitute. He contrasted Rogers with Trossard, praising Rogers’ tougher, more goal-oriented style.
Arsenal’s summer focus remains on attacking reinforcements to sustain their competitive edge across multiple competitions next season. Rogers is considered a strong addition on their shortlist to bolster wide options and inject greater variation in attack for key fixtures. While Trossard and Martinelli remain important squad members, Arsenal may adjust their left side depending on market opportunities, with Rogers viewed as a potential fit for that tactical shift.
