Oklahoma LHP Cameron Johnson enters NCAA transfer portal

By admin — In yahoo — June 29, 2026

Oklahoma Sooners left-handed pitcher Cameron Johnson has entered the NCAA transfer portal, per On3. Johnson spent two seasons in Norman and capped it with a national championship, with his sights now set on finding similar success elsewhere as the transfer window winds down. He’s a name to watch as options dry up. Listed as a junior for the 2026 season, Johnson began his collegiate career at LSU, spending one year in Baton Rouge before Oklahoma scooped him up ahead of the 2025 campaign and helped him find substantial success. After shifting between the bullpen and the rotation, he became a full-time starter in 2026. In 15 appearances, he earned seven decisions, posting six wins and just one loss. He worked 53.2 innings with a 4.36 ERA, holding opponents to a .205 batting average while striking out 72 and walking 43.
For ongoing updates on players entering the portal, check On3’s Transfer Portal wire and the accompanying social feeds. On3’s Pete Nakos recently highlighted several players, including some with Oklahoma connections. Johnson didn’t see much action during Oklahoma’s national championship run; his only NCAA Tournament appearance was brief and difficult, allowing two runs on a walk and a home run without recording an out.
Oklahoma’s national championship run under head coach Skip Johnson culminated on June 22 in Omaha, as the Sooners defeated North Carolina in three games to claim the program’s first title in more than three decades. The team surged during the NCAA Tournament and captured the championship, marking a historic moment for Norman. Skip Johnson has led the program for nine years, consistently guiding Oklahoma to the postseason and the College World Series, including a runner-up finish in 2022. With the 2026 season underway, Johnson has established himself as a championship-winning coach as the Sooners look ahead to future seasons.
