The Celtics have reportedly reached an agreement to bring back 6-foot-11 forward/center Amari Williams, despite declining his team option earlier this week. NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that Williams will return to Boston, and Celtics writer John Karalis clarified that the deal will be a two-way contract for Williams. Williams, selected by the Celtics with the 46th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, appeared in 22 games this season, averaging 1.4 points and 1.8 rebounds. If he continues to develop over the next few seasons, he could emerge as a more significant contributor for Boston. The two-way arrangement complements Boston’s need for depth in the frontcourt, as Williams joins a lineup that already features Neemias Queta, Jordan Walsh, and Dalano Banton, whose team options the Celtics also exercised on Monday. With added depth for next season, the Celtics’ next potential move could involve exploring a trade of Jaylen Brown.
