Como Keep Nico Paz Under New Agreement with Real Madrid

By admin — In yahoo — June 30, 2026

Como have secured Nico Paz for another season as Real Madrid triggered their buyback option, but the deal is structured differently and features a high valuation that the Biancoblù accepted. Fabrizio Romano, via SOSFanta, reports a €60 million price tag for the Argentine, yet Madrid won’t pay that amount immediately and will be able to recall him for €80 million next summer. If they don’t recall him, a substantial resale clause becomes available should Paz move elsewhere in 2027. This arrangement explains the discount in this window. Per La Provincia, Paz reaffirmed his intention to stay after discussions with Real Madrid’s new coach, José Mourinho, who did not guarantee him regular minutes. Instead, Paz will have a chance to play in the UEFA Champions League near Como’s Lake Como.
The Lariani are taking a significant financial gamble. Although the Hartono family owners are billionaires, Paz’s valuation exceeds the club’s standalone revenue, contributing to a €110 million deficit in 2025/2026. The club has chosen to defer FFP concerns, with a buyback next year clearing any issues; otherwise, they would need to negotiate a settlement with UEFA. Our take is that the mechanics are unusual but seemingly sensible: Paz wouldn’t be kept sidelined by Madrid, and the arrangement will likely resemble a high-profile loan or one-year rental. It remains to be seen whether this will constrain future deals for Como, but it sends a clear signal to Serie A about their willingness to pursue ambitious, value-driven moves.
