Are your golf shoes costing you strokes? Arccos data might soon tell you

By admin — In yahoo — July 1, 2026

You may soon be able to track how your golf shoes affect your game. In this week’s episode of GOLF’s Fully Equipped, co-host Jake Morrow spoke with Arccos CEO Sal Syed about the potential for the shot-tracking app to analyze how different footwear influences performance. Syed noted that there’s a performance angle to nearly every element in golf, including what you wear on your feet. He shared that he compared five rounds in spiked shoes to five rounds in spikeless ones and observed a 0.8 strokes-gained improvement with the spikes on his driving, even though the spiked shoes were less comfortable. While Arccos hasn’t released a feature to isolate strokes gained by golf shoes yet, the discussion highlights how small equipment choices can impact performance.
