‘We currently don’t have a single world-class player’ — German great offers biting assessment of current roster

Germany’s Toni Kroos didn’t hold back when he spoke about his national team on his Kroos & Kroos podcast. He argued that the current squad lacks a single world-class player, saying there are players with world-class potential, but none who meet that elite standard. He noted that the world-class players are the ones deciding World Cup matches and topping the goalscorers’ charts, a trait he believes this team no longer possesses. Kroos suggested that in the past, Germany could shift into a higher gear, but that capability seems gone for now. He warned that the team is simply overestimating itself, thinking they’d win against Paraguay, and warned fans to be honest about where the program stands. His stark assessment will be celebrated by some and condemned by others, serving as a blunt reminder of Germany’s fall from their recent heights as they face a third consecutive disappointing tournament.
