New York Knicks star Josh Hart has dismissed rumors that the team’s starting five were invited to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding, calling the reports “fake news” in a post on X on Thursday, July 2. He responded to teammate Jeremy Sochan, who had asked if he could be Hart’s “plus one” to the big event, with a playful comment.
The wedding festivities for Swift and Kelce kicked off on Thursday, July 2, with what is believed to be a rehearsal dinner at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks’ home arena. Previous reports had claimed that the five Knicks starters from their championship-winning lineup—Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, and Hart—had received invitations to celebrate with the Chiefs tight end and the music icon. Hart, 31, appeared to deny these claims.
Sochan, who comes off the bench for New York, jokingly asked Hart on X, “What about me? @joshhart can I be your plus 1?” after the initial report circulated. Hart replied later that the news was “lol bro this fake news,” seemingly refuting the notion that he and the other starters were invited to Swift and Kelce’s wedding.
The Knicks had celebrated their NBA title in June 2026, with Swift supporting them during the Finals. Swift attended Game 4 at MSG on June 10, dancing and celebrating with friends, including fellow Knicks fan Mariska Hargitay, as New York rallied from a 29-point deficit to win 107-106.
As the wedding events began, Hart and other guests, such as Lena Dunham, Jack Antonoff, Erin Andrews, and Greg Olsen, were seen arriving at MSG around 6 p.m. for the festivities. PEOPLE had previously confirmed that Kelce’s mother, Donna Kelce, had arrived in New York City as well.
