Filipe Luis has been appointed as the new manager of AS Monaco, signing a X-year contract confirmed on Wednesday. He takes over from Sébastien Pocognoli, who had replaced Adi Hutter in October 2025 but could only guide the Principality club to seventh place in Ligue 1, falling short of a Champions League spot. Monaco will instead compete in the UEFA Europa Conference League next season. Luis, highly regarded across Europe for his successful spell with Flamengo, will coach the team in that campaign. In Brazil, the former Atletico Madrid and Chelsea defender won the Copa Libertadores in the 2024-25 season, before leaving Flamengo in September 2025 after 100 matches in charge. This marks Luis’s first managerial role in Europe.
