Jason Whitlock slams Emmanuel Acho’s victim card attempt after awful Caitlin Clark take

Phoenix Mercury star Alyssa Thomas’s gesture toward Caitlin Clark has sparked a wave of mixed reactions from fans and experts. Yet one opinion drew near-unanimous disdain: former NFL player Emmanuel Acho’s claim that the WNBA no longer needs Caitlin Clark. After making that remark, Acho has consistently faced backlash from WNBA supporters. Recently, he shared how he’s been coping with the online vitriol that followed.
Analyst Jason Whitlock pushed back on Acho’s defenses regarding the Caitlin Clark controversy. He criticized Acho’s response, saying the so-called “victimhood Olympics” had distorted sports discussion. Whitlock argued that Acho’s claim—that he’s being targeted with racial slurs because he defended Clark—was unfounded, suggesting that Acho’s sensational take and attempt to portray himself as a victim only made things worse. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, Whitlock maintained that Acho’s original remark was misguided, and instead of apologizing, Acho’s perceived victim narrative backfired.
