Hello Falcoholics, and welcome to the long holiday weekend! Training camp is almost here, so I’m encouraging all the writers to take it easy and enjoy the 4th. I’ll post discussion prompts throughout the weekend in case you need a break from the festivities or if the heat has you craving indoors time—we’ll still be here talking Falcons. Since things may move slowly around here this weekend, remember that The Feed is available for you to share thoughts and kick off conversations on whatever you want to discuss. You can start a new Feed post by clicking here.
Today, let’s focus on what we know about the team as we head into camp. We’ve got questions at quarterback, how close Michael Penix might be to returning from last season’s knee injury, and how Tua Tagovailoa could fit into this new-look Falcons offense. There’s uncertainty about the defensive identity after Kaden Elliss left in free agency, and plenty of other questions that come with a largely new coaching staff and front office. We can only make educated guesses for now, so that’s what we’ll do. What’s your best-case scenario for this team? I’m trying to temper expectations given the questions above, but after several seasons of 7-10 and 8-9 finishes, I’d consider a winning record and a Wild Card berth to be a favorable outcome. I’m not asking for much. For the worst-case scenario, I’m not superstitious, but I’ll spare you the jinx—share your thoughts if you want to discuss it. This team already seems determined to test my patience. Let’s avoid tempting fate and dive into the discussion in the comments!
