​German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is close to joining Ajax on loan from Barcelona, according to several Dutch outlets on Friday. The reports indicate that medical checks and remaining formalities should be wrapped up in the coming days. The 34-year-old, who still has a Barcelona contract until 2028, was removed from the starting lineup by coach Hansi Flick a year ago. After recovering from a back injury, he spent January on loan at Girona, but suffered a thigh muscle injury in his second appearance there, which also kept him out of Germany’s World Cup. A move to Ajax would reunite ter Stegen with coach Michel, who has moved to Ajax from Girona.
