Penguins Should Try To Sign Best UFA Defender Left

By admin — In News — July 3, 2026

The Pittsburgh Penguins have already made several moves this off-season, but their roster suggests there’s still room to add. A left-shot defenseman would bolster the defense after the Parker Wotherspoon trade to the Vegas Golden Knights. Among the remaining unrestricted free agents, Logan Stanley stands out as a strong option for the Penguins to consider. If they sign Stanley, he would bring a 6-foot-7 presence who can slot into either the second or third pairing and bolster the penalty kill with his shutdown play. At 28, he’s in his prime and could be a solid target for a multi-year deal. In 76 games last season split between the Winnipeg Jets and Buffalo Sabres, Stanley totaled nine goals, 17 assists, 26 points, 110 hits, and 128 penalty minutes. These numbers indicate he would add more offense and significant grit to the Penguins’ blueline, making him a compelling risk worth pursuing for improved depth and impact.
