Sporting Jax men salvage draw after blown lead at Loudoun United

By admin — In News — July 4, 2026

Moments after Loudoun United grabbed the lead in stoppage time, Emil Jaaskelainen fired a premium top-corner strike in the 93rd minute — the third goal after the 80th — helping Sporting Club Jacksonville rescue a 2-2 draw in USL Championship play on July 3 in Leesburg, Virginia.
Sporting Jax (0-11-4) appeared poised for their first league win, leading 1-0 with 10 minutes left, before Loudoun (1-5-8) capitalized on defensive miscues. Thorleifur Ulfarsson pounced on a rebound off Sporting Jax keeper Christian Olivares, setting up Arquimedes Ordonez to level the score, and Abdellatif Aboukoura drilled a 20-yard shot past Olivares in stoppage time.
Early in the game, Sporting Jax opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time when Kieran Sadlier converted from a tight angle following a Jaaskelainen assist. Jacksonville’s losing run ended at three matches, but they remain at the bottom of the 13-team Eastern Conference. Loudoun outshot Sporting Jax 19-12.
Upcoming: Sporting Jax, still seeking their first league win, return home to host the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, at the University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium.
