The Pittsburgh Pirates fell 9-5 to the Washington Nationals in the opener of a three-game road series Friday, marked by another rough outing from Mitch Keller, who surrendered three home runs in the defeat. The Pirates (44-45) struggled to mount offense until it was already too late.

Bottom 1st, 1-0 WSH: The Nationals (46-43) struck first on a one-out homer by first baseman Luis García Jr.
Bottom 2nd, 2-0 WSH: Daylen Lile connected on a homer off Keller (6-6) to center field.
