Ange Postecoglou returns to management with Al-Nassr appointment
Ange Postecoglou has returned to coaching by signing a two-year contract to lead Saudi Pro League champions Al-Nassr. The 60-year-old Australian takes charge of a team captained by Cristiano Ronaldo, succeeding Jorge Jesus after Al-Nassr clinched the title. This move gives Postecoglou a fresh opportunity to rebuild his reputation following a challenging spell in English football.
Postecoglou parted ways with Tottenham after guiding them to their first major trophy in years with the 2025 Europa League triumph, but a disappointing Premier League campaign that finished 17th sealed his exit. A short spell at Nottingham Forest then lasted only 39 days as the club failed to win any of his eight matches in charge.
Though he had been linked with the vacant Scotland job and had also been associated with Kazakhstan, Postecoglou has chosen a new challenge in Saudi Arabia. The former Celtic boss arrives with a proven record of league success across Scotland, Australia, and Japan, and he will now aim to extend that success at Al-Nassr, alongside Ronaldo, as they look to defend the league title and chase additional silverware.
