Ravi Bishnoi’s nightmare over in Manchester has added another unwanted chapter to Indian T20I history. In a match where England needed 49 runs from the last four overs, Bishnoi bowled the 17th over and was immediately targeted by Jacob Bethell, who hammered him for 29 runs—two back-foot no-balls and a spree of boundaries that swung the game in England’s favour. Bethell ultimately finished unbeaten on 76 off 46 balls, including a dramatic reverse-lap six off Harshit Rana, as England chased down the target at Old Trafford.
Bishnoi’s 29-run over is the third most expensive by an Indian in a T20I. Only Shivam Dube’s 34-run over against New Zealand in 2020 and Stuart Binny’s 32-run over versus the West Indies in 2016 rank higher. Across T20I innings, Bishnoi’s three overs yielded 60 runs, placing him fifth on the list of most expensive Indian spells in a single T20I innings. Prasidh Krishna remains the most expensive, having conceded 68 runs against Australia in Guwahati in November 2023.
