Reimagine my IMAGIN IMAGES via Reuters Connect. We’re deep into the NHL’s quietest period of the offseason: most free agents have signed, trades are complete, and the pace has slowed. Yet there was still activity yesterday, even on a holiday. It wasn’t as loud as the Fourth of July, but there were fireworks if you looked or listened outside. Even with a delay, Boston delivered a blend of a sharp drone show and the traditional fireworks. Back to hockey: the Bruins brought Connor Clifton back for two more seasons, and he’s energized, confident in what he can contribute, and so is Don Sweeney. But that isn’t all from Sweeney’s office. The Bruins were reportedly eyeing a Stars RFA forward, who was traded and signed a six-year deal elsewhere yesterday. Sweeney’s team isn’t done adding, according to David Pagnotta. Across the league, the fallout from the Flyers’ offer sheet to Leo Carlsson could push teams toward trades—copycat tendencies abound in this league. The Kraken are prepared to move a 22-year-old center this summer; timing and destination remain to be decided. The Devils, despite having an offer sheet out there, could be interested if it doesn’t pan out. And two 24-year-old players, newly acquired, signed two-year deals yesterday. Happy Sunday—catch up on Bruins and league news in today’s Daily Bean: Boston Bruins. Clifton: Cliffy is Back. The Bruins gave Connor Clifton a two-year pact worth $2.25 million AAV on Wednesday. Beyond recognizing his game, Don Sweeney is confident in the right-shot defenseman, who says his best hockey still lies ahead in Boston after some rocky stretches in Buffalo and Pittsburgh. He believes he has plenty of hockey left in the tank. The Sheet with Jeff Marek (via YouTube): Jason Marek reported the Bruins also showed interest in Mavrik Bourque, a nod to the first round of the draft on Friday. “Boston was in an interesting situation over the last week and change,” Marek said. “They were interested in Mavrik Bourque, dating back to Friday in the draft’s opening rounds, and even before it started. They went with JJ Peterka, and the Bourque discussions faded.” David Pagnotta added that the Bruins are seeking another top-six forward. “The Boston Bruins have certainly been active. You mention Peterka; that’s one of the boxes they checked. I still think they’re after another top-six forward to complement their mix,” Pagnotta said. “Center would be ideal, but the center market seems especially tough right now. They’re aiming to add more scoring punch up front, noting what other teams in their division have done.” NHL News & National Hockey Now Sportsnet: Well,.
