ZUMAPRESS.com / MEGAAngel Reese and the Atlanta Dream have hit a rough patch, dropping their last five games and slipping to seventh in the league with a 12-9 record. Before the skid, Reese and the Dream were among the WNBA’s hottest teams, hitting franchise milestones and giving opponents tough battles for four quarters. Recently, Atlanta has had trouble recapturing that early-season rhythm. Despite the slide, the former LSU star isn’t preoccupied with the standings; she sent a confident message to the league, making it clear she still believes the Dream will be a threat.
Angel Reese Sends A Warning To Other WNBA Teams After The Dream Loss The Dream fell to the Golden State Valkyries on Saturday, July 4, by an 88-83 score. The game marked their fifth consecutive defeat, and although the performance showed improvement, Atlanta faltered at the line and from the floor. Reese, the 24-year-old star, insisted the team wasn’t dwelling on the outcome. In the postgame press conference, she emphasized the Dream’s resolve to rebound and issued a warning to teams ahead in the standings. “We have five games going into All-Star, and any team in front of us should be scared because we’re ready, and we’re going to keep pushing every day, review film, regroup, and figure ourselves out,” she said. She added, “Adversity builds character in the locker room, with tough conversations, accountability, and figuring it out.”
Angel Reese Details The Dream’s Plan For Getting Back On Track After The Five-Game Losing Streak Following the 88-83 loss to the Valkyries, I asked Reese about the team’s free-throw shooting during the skid and how they can improve. Here’s what she said. 🎥⬇️#AtlantaDream #AngelReese #WNBA
Reese and her Atlanta teammates aren’t back in action until Thursday, July 9, when they face the Seattle Storm at 8 PM ET. Ahead of their next game, Reese said the Dream will focus on time together to recalibrate. “We have a lot of time until our next game, so we’ll spend time at home, enjoying each other’s company. We’re not down—we’re not down, and this team is used to winning,” she said. In the postgame remarks, Reese also expressed disappointment with the team’s inefficient shooting over the last five games. Against Golden State, the Dream went 8-for-26 from three and 23-for-33 at the free-throw line. According to Reese, that performance is unacceptable. “No excuses. Absolutely no excuse. We just have to be better.”
