Rutgers is continuing to finalize its roster for the upcoming season and struck another deal on Tuesday afternoon with the addition of Italian forward Diego Garavaglia, as reported by DraftExpress. The 6-foot-6 forward has accepted Rutgers’ final scholarship, though head coach Steve Pikiell has suggested the possibility of bringing in one more player before the season begins.
Garavaglia spent the previous season as a reserve with Ratiopharm Ulm in Germany’s top division. He appeared in 33 games, averaging 2.7 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. His performance at the Under-18 European Championships last summer stood out, where he averaged 14.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per contest while shooting 42.1% from three-point range over seven appearances in 29 minutes of action.
With Garavaglia’s commitment, Rutgers has now added eight new pieces this offseason. The roster additions include Rashheed Jones from Coastal Carolina, Darin Smith from Central Connecticut State, Will Sydnor from Manhattan, Christian Gurdak from Virginia Tech, Dorin Buca from Kansas State, Imahri Wooten from the 2026 class, Lewis Duarte, an international prospect from the Dominican Republic, and Diego Garavaglia, an international prospect from Italy. This influx of players reflects Rutgers’ broader strategy to bolster depth and versatility for the coming season.
