Arsenal sign Reuteler on free transfer

Arsenal have completed the free signing of Géraldine Reuteler from Eintracht Frankfurt, making her the club’s third addition in the summer 2026 window. The Swiss midfielder was on Arsenal’s radar last year when Frankfurt were reluctant to part with her, and the north London club have now secured the 26-year-old without paying a transfer fee. Reuteler arrives as an experienced attacking midfielder who impressed for Switzerland during her homeland European Championship in 2025, adding a fresh dimension to Arsenal’s midfield ahead of pre-season.
Her arrival brings a different profile to the squad, with her technical prowess, intelligence, and athleticism offering Renée Slegers an additional credible option as the team prepares for the new campaign. “Arsenal is one of the best clubs in the world and I’m so proud that I can be here,” Reuteler said. “I love the way this team plays and I can’t wait to test myself against the best players in the WSL.”
She added: “I want to add to the history and success of this football club and I’m looking forward to walking out at the Emirates in front of all our supporters.” The club’s Director of Women’s Football, Clare Wheatley, expressed delight at securing Géry as an Arsenal player. “Géry has been a long-term target for us and brings a strong background of experience at both club and international level. We’re excited to work together to win more trophies for the club,” Wheatley stated.
Head coach Slegers echoed the sentiment, noting: “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to bring Géry to Arsenal. She’s a really technical, intelligent player who combines this with good athleticism, which we believe makes her a fantastic addition to our midfield group. I’m looking forward to starting to work with her when pre-season begins.” Reuteler will don the No. 14 shirt as she joins the squad.
The signing follows Arsenal’s earlier moves in the transfer window and signals the club’s intent to strengthen midfields with technically gifted players who can control games and provide creativity in attacking phases. Reuteler’s departure from Frankfurt marks the end of a notable chapter there, but her move to Arsenal places her in a new competitive environment where she can showcase her abilities across the WSL and in European competition. Her presence is anticipated to contribute to Arsenal’s tactical flexibility and depth, particularly as the team balances domestic duties with continental ambitions.
With pre-season on the horizon, Reuteler’s integration will be closely watched as she settles into life in north London, adapts to the pace and physicality of the league, and builds chemistry with teammates. The club’s coaching staff will be keen to maximize her technical strengths and movement to unlock more attacking options for Arsenal’s playmaking and goal-threat from midfield. As she begins her Arsenal journey, supporters will be eager to see how Reuteler’s style complements the squad’s existing DNA and helps push the team toward further silverware in the 2026-27 season.
