Get to Know Your Orange: #22 RB, Ahmad Miller

It’s time to start gearing up for the 2026 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re digging through the roster, taking a close look at each Syracuse player as we meet a host of new faces in Year 3 of the Fran Brown Era. Up next is Ahmad Miller.
Name: Ahmad Miller
Position: Running back
Year: Redshirt junior
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 207 lbs
Hometown: Memphis, Tennessee
High School/Previous College: Whitehaven High School/Jackson State
2025 stats: After a limited 2024 season, Miller broke out in 2025 with the Tigers, starting in eight of the 12 games he appeared in. He piled up 163 carries for 1,035 rushing yards and five touchdowns, making him the lone 1,000-yard rusher in the Southwestern Athletic Conference that year. Perhaps the most telling stat is his efficiency: despite a markedly higher workload, Miller averaged 6.3 yards per carry, a number that remains consistent with his career average across three collegiate seasons.
2026 projections: Miller stands out as one of the more intriguing x-factor players on Syracuse’s offense. The running back room will look noticeably different this season, and Miller’s production could be a key piece in that evolution. Yes, his production has come at a level below what Syracuse will ultimately face, but it’s the quality and versatility he brings that matters. Among the other backs, Ju’Juan Johnson offers upside from LSU but has not carried a heavy load in college (only 48 carries across two years). Malachi Coleman and Tylik Hill are still young and largely unproven. That creates a real opening for Miller to establish himself as the primary back or at least a top option in the rotation. Realistically, he’s likely to be the 1B or second option, with a meaningful role in Syracuse’s ground game.
How’d he get here?: Miller committed to Jackson State over an offer from Sanford, and he played 25 games there across three seasons before transferring to Syracuse in January.
What’d recruiting sites say?: There isn’t a traditional recruiting profile for him as a high school recruit, but he is listed as a three-star transfer by 247Sports.

Interesting nugget o’interest: Ahmad is the brother of former Miami Dolphin and current CFL linebacker Aubrey Miller. He’s also one of only two 2026 Orange players hailing from Tennessee.
