Pregnant Carli Lloyd Fires Back at Troll Commenting on Her Appearance During World Cup Coverage

Carli Lloyd is firing back after an X user made a disparaging remark about her appearance. The Fox Sports World Cup co-host, who is expecting her second child with husband Brian Hollins, responded to the comment following a post she shared about the U.S. team, which had just been eliminated in the round of 16 with a 4-1 loss to Belgium on Monday night.
“You rest when your playing career is over,” Lloyd, 43, wrote. “Period.” In the replies, a commenter wrote: “Looks like you’ve been resting really good lately big mama.” Lloyd, known for her forthrightness as a World Cup broadcaster, did not hold back.
“I can tell you are a gentleman,” she replied. “Do you always disrespect women? Does it make you feel good hiding behind your keyboard?”

Following the U.S. men’s national team’s defeat on Monday, Lloyd used her platform to vent about the team’s performance. In a post-game analysis, she expressed frustration with the effort, saying, “It’s a bit of a downer for us being out here now after this loss, but I felt like they lost the game before they even stepped out onto the pitch. I’m not sure why, and I don’t know the reasons, but just from the beginning, just chasing, tentative, scared, just not confident on the ball. And I think big-time players — you wanted some of those big-time players to step up in big moments.”
She also singled out star winger Christian Pulisic for not meeting expectations during the World Cup, noting, “I gotta be honest, I was a bit disappointed with Christian Pulisic. I think whether he wants to be the star of this team or not, we didn’t see enough from him in this particular game and really the whole World Cup. Little glimpses here and there.”
In a preceding exclusive interview with PEOPLE ahead of the tournament, Lloyd offered a peek into her pregnancy experience this time around. She discussed how navigating pregnancy while caring for a toddler adds to the challenge, saying, “This is a little bit different being pregnant while also having a toddler [daughter Harper, 20 months], so it’s very exhausting, to say the least, but worth every bit of it. We’re really excited!” She also revealed that her due date is in September, and the family is eagerly anticipating the arrival.
For fans following Lloyd’s journey, her commentary remains candid and unapologetically honest, both on the field and online, as she continues to balance her professional duties with her growing family life.
