Chelsea has announced the signing of Geovany Quenda, describing him as “one of the brightest talents in European football” after confirming a deal with Sporting Lisbon. The 19-year-old winger, who has featured across multiple wide positions for Sporting and helped the side secure a league title and several doubles last season, has agreed a contract that runs until 2034.
“It feels great to be here,” Quenda said. “Chelsea is a great team and I am excited to play at Stamford Bridge. The club has shown faith in players like me, and I am proud to be here, proud to be part of this club.” He added, “I am excited to work with my teammates and the Manager, Xabi Alonso. I am a very hardworking young person and I like to help my team. I want to be known for having the right mentality to assist my teammates and to give my best for the club in pursuit of trophies.”
This transfer news comes amid reports that Chelsea are nearing the sale of midfielder Andrey Santos to Manchester United. The questions now are: are these deals good business for Chelsea? Share your views.
