Manchester City have announced the complete lineup of Roberto Maresca’s coaching staff as part of the club’s new management team. The group includes a blend of experienced football professionals who are set to work closely with Maresca, bringing a wealth of familiarity and proven success to the Etihad Stadium. The players named for Maresca’s staff are Men’s Team veterans Roberto Vitiello, Willy Caballero, Danny Walker, Michele De Bernardin, Marcos Alvarez, Denis Silva, and Javier Molina. Each will contribute in crucial roles across the first team, drawing on past collaborations with Maresca to ensure a smooth transition and continuity within City’s football operations.
Set-piece duties will be overseen by James French, while Richard Wright continues in his role as goalkeeping coach. Both have established themselves over the 2025/26 season and will bring consistency and expertise to the squad, helping to maintain high standards in training and match preparation. Maresca was publicly unveiled as Manchester City’s new manager on 29 June, having signed a three-year contract with the club. His appointment marks a new chapter for City, with a renewed emphasis on a cohesive, integrated coaching setup designed to support a competitive ethos across all competitions.
Joining Maresca as part of his United Kingdom-based staff is fellow Italian Roberto Vitiello, who will take on the role of assistant manager. Vitiello’s career as a player spanned several notable clubs, including Parma, Cesena, Vicenza, Rimini, Siena, and Palermo, alongside Maresca. After concluding his playing days at Juve Stabia, he shifted into coaching, beginning at Fiorentina before reuniting with Maresca at Parma, Leicester City, and Chelsea. This history of collaboration with Maresca underscores a shared football philosophy and a strong working relationship that City hope will translate into immediate benefits on the training pitch and in matches.
Willy Caballero returns to Manchester City as a first-team coach. The Argentinian goalkeeper previously made 48 appearances for City, and his time with the club included memorable moments, such as his crucial penalty shootout performance that helped secure the 2013/14 League Cup trophy. Caballero also has a prior connection with Maresca, having been teammates with him at Malaga under former City manager Manuel Pellegrini. His familiarity with City’s culture and Maresca’s methods is expected to be a valuable asset as the team pursues domestic and European success.
Danny Walker, another returning first-team coach, previously worked with City’s Academy and later linked up with Maresca at Leicester and Chelsea. His continuity and experience across different levels of the club will support development pathways and the integration of players into the first team. Michele De Bernardin will assume the role of Head of Goalkeeping, reinforcing the club’s coaching infrastructure in that specialized area. Marcos Alvarez has been appointed as the fitness coach, bringing a focus on physical preparation, conditioning, and recovery that aligns with City’s high-performance standards. Denis Silva will join as a first-team coach, adding additional tactical and technical expertise to the group. Javier Molina completes the lineup as the new analyst, contributing data-driven insights to performance analysis, opposition scouting, and match preparation.
All of the coaches involved bring substantial experience and have previously worked as part of Maresca’s team, fostering a strong sense of continuity and a shared footballing philosophy across City’s coaching staff. Manchester City extend a warm welcome to the new coaching team and look forward to continued success under Maresca’s leadership.
