Former Texas A&M F reuniting with Wizards in blockbuster NBA trade

By admin — In News — July 8, 2026

A blockbuster NBA trade has reunited a former Texas A&M forward with the Washington Wizards through a sign-and-trade arrangement involving the Dallas Mavericks, finalized on Tuesday. Free agent Khris Middleton, who wore the Aggies uniform from 2009 through 2012, agreed to a three-year contract worth 17.6 million dollars with the Wizards, a club where he has already spent portions of the last two seasons. Middleton’s professional career includes a 12-year stint with the Milwaukee Bucks before he was dealt to Washington in 2025.
NBA insider Shams Charania reported that there was mutual interest between Middleton and the Wizards in reuniting, rooted in the strong relationship they cultivated during his prior tenure with the team prior to the February trade deadline, when he moved to the Mavericks. Over his three years at Texas A&M, Middleton posted averages of 11.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, earning All-Big 12 honors before being selected by the Detroit Pistons with the 39th overall pick in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft. Now 34, Middleton is a three-time All-Star who played a crucial role in the Bucks’ championship run from 2020 to 2021, alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, one of the sport’s most dominant players. In playoff action, Middleton has appeared in 80 games, boasting postseason averages of 20.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists.
Middleton’s presence adds a layer of experience to a Wizards roster that already features veteran Deandre Ayton as it undergoes a broader rebuild. As whispers swirl about Anthony Davis possibly leaving Washington to join LeBron James elsewhere, Middleton’s leadership and seasoned production could prove instrumental as the franchise charts its path forward. The Wizards hope his return will help stabilize the club during a period of upheaval and ambition, with Middleton expected to contribute not only steady scoring but also a veteran perspective that can guide younger players and support the franchise’s long-term development.
