Arsenal prepare new offer for Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes after two bids rejected

Arsenal are reportedly preparing to lodge a fresh transfer bid to pry Bruno Guimaraes away from Newcastle United, according to Fabrizio Romano. After two previous offers were rejected by the Magpies, with the latest valued at around £65 million, the Gunners are poised to submit another proposal aimed at luring the Brazil midfielder from St James’ Park. Arsenal have signaled their intention to strengthen their central midfield options this summer and have earmarked Guimaraes as an ideal fit for the role.
Newcastle, for their part, have consistently stated that they have no intention of selling the 28-year-old Brazil international, who still has two years left on his current contract. Nevertheless, Guimaraes has recently informed the club of his desire to move to Arsenal, a development that has somewhat weakened Newcastle’s stance and sparked fresh speculation about a potential transfer.
Guimaraes has been a cornerstone of Newcastle’s lineup in recent seasons. He has accumulated 195 appearances across all competitions for the club, contributing 31 goals and 32 assists in the process. His influence was especially evident in their run to win the Carabao Cup in the 2024-25 campaign, a triumph that ended Newcastle’s 70-year wait for a domestic trophy and cemented his status as a pivotal figure at the club.
On the international stage, Guimaraes featured prominently for Brazil at the World Cup 2026 under Carlo Ancelotti’s management, starting every group-stage match before Brazil were eliminated by Norway in the round of 16. The Brazil star’s form at the club level has only enhanced his reputation, reinforcing the perception that he belongs at the very highest level of club football, consistently challenging for major honours on an annual basis.
The context around Guimaraes’s potential move is complicated by Newcastle’s recent departures. The club have already seen Anthony Gordon leave for Barcelona and Sandro Tonali depart for Tottenham Hotspur, losses that have heightened the pressure on them to retain their prized asset. Despite their intense efforts to hold on to Guimaraes, it appears his heart is set on joining Arsenal, driven by the lure of competing for major trophies on a yearly basis.
Guimaraes’s potential switch would represent a significant coup for Arsenal as they aim to fortify their midfield with a player who combines energy, technical quality, and a proven track record at the highest level. The Brazilian’s profile aligns with Arsenal’s ambitions to compete for silverware and to contend with Europe’s elite clubs as they rebuild their squad under their current management and strategy. As discussions continue, fans and pundits will be watching closely to see whether Arsenal can prevail in their bid to secure a player who has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to influence games at both club and international levels.
