Emersonn has completed his move from Toulouse FC to Ipswich Town, with the transfer confirmed on Wednesday. The deal marks a new record sale for Ligue 1 club Toulouse, illustrating a remarkable jump in value for the Brazilian forward. Emersonn joined Toulouse only last summer from Turkish side Goztepe in a deal that totaled just over €3 million. A year later, he departs for ten times that amount, with the transfer price set at €32 million. This figure surpasses Toulouse’s previous record sale, which was €25 million when West Ham United paid for Issa Diop.
In his solitary season with Toulouse, Emersonn featured 31 times, bagging seven goals and providing three assists. The Brazilian striker has now signed a five-year contract with Ipswich Town, who are competing in the Premier League under the stewardship of former RC Strasbourg Alsace boss Gary O’Neil.
Ipswich’s activity is expected to continue this summer, with further departures anticipated. One notable potential exit is Charlie Cresswell, who has attracted significant interest from clubs such as Stade Rennais and Crystal Palace, both of whom are vying to secure the former England youth international’s services.
This transfer marks a significant financial and strategic shift for Toulouse, while Ipswich Town’s recruitment signals their ambition to strengthen under new management. The move underscores Emersonn’s rapid rise and the evolving transfer dynamics within European football this off-season.
