​With the Stark County OHSAA sports season behind us for the 2025-26 school year, we turn the page to reflect on the standout performances that defined this year. Your ballot will determine Stark County’s Best of the School Year honors for teams, coaches, and athletes. This week, we want to know: who were the top boys and girls high school sports teams of 2025-26? Each candidate’s achievements are listed above the poll, which will remain open until 5 p.m. Monday, July 13. The winners will be announced on July 14 at CantonRep.com.
Now, here are the contenders selected by the Repository sports staff. One team finished as the Division VI state runner-up, another team was the Division III state runner-up, and a squad qualified for the state tournament for the third consecutive year. We also feature a program that captured its first team state championship and swept three individual state titles in the process. Another team captured the Division VI state championship, marking the school’s first state title in that division. A different program earned the Division II state championship, securing its first state title in basketball. Additionally, one team finished third in Division IV at the state meet, while another finished third in Division I at the state meet.
