Savannah James has had enough of the critics who constantly speak negatively about her husband, NBA legend LeBron James. In a recent episode of her podcast, Everybody’s Crazy, Savannah addressed the ongoing commentary surrounding LeBron’s 23-year career, a discourse that has intensified recently in light of his decision to part ways with the Los Angeles Lakers after eight seasons. While speaking with her co-host, April McDaniel, Savannah opened up about managing public opinion, noting that people will always have something to say, even though there isn’t much she can do to change it.
McDaniel agreed, adding that social media magnifies the issue because these platforms grant people unprecedented access. “I don’t think that is normal with social media. No, I think people build up things to crush them,” she commented. Savannah jumped back in, agreeing with McDaniel and highlighting how “crazy” it is that so many people discuss her husband and his life. “People have definitely made careers out of talking about LeBron,” Savannah said. “People have a subjective opinion about what everybody thinks is the best thing. But to be on the other side of it, it’s like, ‘No, it’s not.’ They make careers out of that.”
The remarks come just days after LeBron, 41, announced his departure from the Lakers after eight seasons. In response, the Lakers organization issued a statement praising him as “one of the greatest athletes in history” and expressing gratitude for his contributions. The statement ended with well-wishes for his future, noting that he will always be a cherished member of the Lakers family. LeBron, who helped the franchise win the 2020 NBA championship, replied to the team’s message with a simple, emphatic, “No, THANK YOU!” He described playing for the Lakers—one of the most storied franchises in the league, once home to stars such as Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal—as an honor and said he hopes he made a few people proud during his time with the team.
Meanwhile, The Blast reported that some sources expected LeBron to leave Los Angeles after the 2025-26 season, suggesting the Akron, Ohio native was “ready to move on,” and implying the team might feel the same due to his supposed “outsized ego.” LeBron, however, dismissed these rumors, telling reporters that he does not concern himself with “the reports or whatever the case may be.” He reiterated that he joined the Lakers in 2018 with the goal of restoring excellence to the franchise, noting that as a kid he believed the Lakers were the best in the world. He closed by reflecting on what he and his teammates achieved, including their victory over the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the 2020 NBA Finals, which he described as fulfilling a long-sought objective.
As the discourse surrounding LeBron continues to evolve, Savannah’s podcast offers a candid glimpse into how public life—from relentless scrutiny to the shifting tides of a legendary career—affects the people closest to one of basketball’s most influential figures.
