Random Ramsdom: Ty Simpson’s learning a lot, who knew?

By admin — In News — July 9, 2026

I can’t definitively say whether Ty Simpson has had a standout start to his career with the Los Angeles Rams, but there are quotes from Simpson that suggest he’s giving his best effort. On some level, that’s all you can ask for—trying your hardest and pushing forward. Now, depending on where you look and what you search on the internet, Simpson has faced questions about his ability to pass Stetson Bennett. Is that really true? It’s the internet, so some might treat it as gospel. Even if Simpson is progressing more slowly than Bennett, how dire is that? If the internet declares it a bad sign, then some might treat it as such.
We aim to have some fun, but here’s the rub: Simpson hasn’t even begun his first NFL season in earnest yet. He’s entering the league, adjusting to life in the NFL, and, as Simpson himself has said, he’s giving his best and taking everything in. Who knew? Or perhaps Simpson is simply doing exactly what the Rams anticipated when they drafted him. We’ll have to wait and see, but July is here, and NFL storylines are bound to heat up from this point forward. Thanks for checking out Turf Show Times. It’s almost Friday! We’re close, very close. Have a great day.
As Simpson described it during OTAs, it’s “like drinking from a fire hydrant.” There’s a lot expected of you, he noted, and the quarterback is the one who runs the show here, which is exactly how he prefers it. The key is maintaining discipline and attention to detail. In the wake of the whirlwind debut to his NFL career after being selected 13th overall in April’s draft, Simpson said he feels fortunate to be in a quarterback room learning from Matthew Stafford. “I mean, he’s the MVP for a reason,” Simpson said of Stafford, who earned the award this past season. “Everything he does, he’s so aware of everything. Aware of how everything works and so detailed. Being in the room with him is just such a blessing.”
There’s ongoing discussion about how long Stafford will play and what it will take to keep the Rams’ No. 1 quarterback content and effective. To preserve Stafford’s success, the franchise is intentionally surrounding him with young talent. The Rams have pursued this through bold trades and strategic drafting. This approach is reflected in CBS Sports’ list of the NFL’s top 25 players who are 25 and younger, where writers like Tyler Sullivan highlighted Rams cornerback Trent McDuffie and receiver Puka Nacua as notable names on that list.
There have even been whispers about a possible reunion with Aaron Donald, who dominated opposing quarterbacks for years during his nine-year run with the Rams, with talk of a 2026–27 reunion following the Garrett trade. While an unretirement move initially seemed more like an intriguing fantasy than a genuine option, NFL insider Jason La Canfora recently offered a fresh update on the likelihood of Donald signing with the Rams in the near future for better SEO. The chatter continues as the league evolves and new developments emerge, keeping Rams fans engaged and curious about what lies ahead.
