Florida State standing out to elite in-state WR

By admin — In News — July 9, 2026

Florida football fans are keeping a close eye on one of the top players in the 2028 recruiting cycle: Brysen Wright, a five-star wide receiver from Mandarin High School in Jacksonville. Wright has already drawn more than 30 scholarship offers, and a handful of programs have begun to stand out as leaders in his recruitment. As his junior season approaches and the recruiting process starts to heat up, Wright’s father, Colby Wright, shared an update on the programs that are currently at the forefront. He highlighted the Miami Hurricanes, Florida Gators, Texas Longhorns, and Ohio State Buckeyes as schools that have positioned themselves prominently. Florida State also drew his attention, according to Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong. In total, all five programs are on Wright’s radar for official and unofficial visits this fall, with the way each team performs this season poised to factor heavily into where Wright ultimately invests his time and attention.
Rivals has Wright ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the country and the top wide receiver in addition to being the top recruit in Florida. That combination of national ranking and state prominence underscores just how high expectations are for him as he progresses through his high school career. It’s clear that the Sooners, Seminoles, Gators, Hurricanes, and Buckeyes are all eyeing Wright as a potential cornerstone for their future, and the competition to land him is heating up as the calendar moves toward national signing day.
Florida State, in particular, has a long history with Wright’s recruitment. The Seminoles were among the earliest teams to extend an offer, dating back to his attendance at the Showtime Camp in July 2024. Since then, Wright has made unofficial visits to Tallahassee, first in September 2024 for a game against Boston College and again last October when Florida State hosted Miami. Those visits have reinforced FSU’s status as a frequent topic of discussion in Wright’s ongoing process, illustrating the sustained interest between the elite in-state target and the storied program.
On the field, Wright has demonstrated consistency and production across two high school seasons. As a freshman, he compiled 31 receptions for 646 yards and eight touchdowns, a freshman campaign that earned him MVP honors at the FBU Freshman All-American Bowl in December 2024. He built on that foundation as a sophomore, improving to 46 catches for 983 yards and 10 touchdowns. Those numbers reflect not only his playmaking ability but also his reliability and rapport with quarterbacks, attributes that continue to draw interest from major programs across the country.
As Wright’s junior year unfolds, it will be fascinating to monitor which games he attends and how Florida State and the other top contenders position themselves in the eyes of the recruit and his family. The combination of Wright’s exceptional on-field production, his top-rated national status, and the depth of interest from prominent programs guarantees that his recruitment will remain one of the most watched stories in the 2028 cycle. The fall will likely feature a series of visits and campus discussions that could reshape the landscape of his eventual destination, with Florida State staying in the mix as a consistent and meaningful contender.
