Ex-Red Sox players: How Rafael Devers, Alex Bregman, Dustin May, others are doing

Former Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman continues to struggle with the Cubs, hitting just .200 (23-for-115) since June 1. Also enduring a rough stretch is Kyle Harrison, whom Boston traded to the Brewers in a six-player deal that sent Caleb Durbin to the Red Sox. The left-hander has a 6.15 ERA over his past six starts after posting a 1.57 ERA in his first 11 outings. With the All-Star Break approaching next week, here’s a snapshot of how ex-Red Sox from the 2025 team are performing in 2026.
Alex Bregman, Cubs: The 32-year-old third baseman is batting .240 with a .337 on-base percentage, a .345 slugging percentage, and a .682 OPS in 90 games (413 plate appearances). He has seven homers, 14 doubles, one triple, 35 RBIs, 47 walks, and 63 strikeouts. Bregman signed a five-year, $175 million contract with the Cubs in January.
Rafael Devers, Giants: The 29-year-old first baseman/DH, who Boston traded to San Francisco last June 15, is hitting .244 with a .311 on-base percentage, a .472 slugging percentage, and a .783 OPS in 92 games (389 plate appearances). He has 18 homers, 24 doubles, one triple, 47 RBIs, 34 walks, and 107 strikeouts.
Rob Refsnyder, Mariners: The 35-year-old is batting .133 with a .203 on-base percentage, a .219 slugging percentage, and a .422 OPS in 49 games (119 plate appearances). He has just three extra-base hits, all home runs, and nine RBIs, seven walks, and 32 strikeouts. He’s been on the injured list since June 29 due to right knee inflammation. He signed a one-year, $6.25 million contract with Seattle in December.
Brennan Bernardino, Rockies: The 34-year-old lefty owns a 3.13 ERA (37⅓ innings, 13 earned runs), a 1.29 WHIP, and a .259 opponents’ batting average, with 26 strikeouts and 11 walks over 44 outings. Boston traded Bernardino to the Rockies for speedy minor league outfielder Braiden Ward on Nov. 18.
Walker Buehler, Padres: The 31-year-old right-hander is 5-5 with a 5.07 ERA (87 innings, 49 earned runs), a 1.39 WHIP, and a .265 opponents’ batting average, along with 80 strikeouts and 31 walks in 18 starts. He signed a minor league deal with San Diego and earned a spot on the big league club out of spring training.
Lucas Giolito, free agent: The 31-year-old righty is 2-3 with a 5.16 ERA (29⅔ innings, 17 earned runs), a 1.85 WHIP, and a .281 opponents’ batting average, with 18 strikeouts and 23 walks in seven appearances (five starts). He’s on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation. Giolito declined his end of a $19 million mutual option with Boston last offseason and signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Padres on April 22.
Dustin May, Cardinals: The 28-year-old right-hander is 5-6 with a 4.55 ERA (89 innings, 45 earned runs), a 1.25 WHIP, and a .259 opponents’ batting average, with 85 strikeouts and 24 walks in 17 starts. He signed a one-year, $12.5 million contract with St. Louis on Dec. 13, which includes a $20 million mutual option for 2027.
Kyle Harrison, Brewers: The focus remains on the pitcher who was part of the deal that sent Durbin to Boston. Harrison has shown flashes but has struggled recently, carrying a 6.15 ERA over his last six starts after a strong first stretch.
Note: This overview centers on the performance of former Red Sox players from the 2025 roster now with other teams in 2026, ahead of the upcoming All-Star break.
