World Cup: Leverkusen defender Quansah hit with two-game ban for England

Following his sending-off in England’s 3-2 victory over Mexico at the World Cup, Jarell Quansah has been subjected to disciplinary sanctions. The world governing body FIFA announced on Thursday that the Bayer Leverkusen center-back has received a two-game suspension. As a consequence of this punishment, Quansah will miss England’s quarter-final clash with Norway on Saturday in Miami. The defender will also be unavailable to coach Thomas Tuchel should England advance to a potential semi-final against either Argentina or Switzerland.
Regarding his return, the 23-year-old will only be able to resume playing if the Three Lions reach the final or the third-place playoff. The English Football Association had previously contemplated appealing the decision, but no such steps have been taken at this time.
